Warwick, R.I. and Emeryville, Calif. – November 14, 2005 – CloudFirst, a technology company focused on the data security and disaster recovery needs of small and midsize organizations, today announced its partnership with EVault, Inc., the experts in secure, online backup and recovery solutions. EVault’s Internet-based backup technology will be a key component of the CloudFirst disaster recovery (CloudFirst/DR) solution, enabling organizations to meet their business continuity requirements.
EVault provides online (disk-to-disk) backup solutions to protect its clients’ mission-critical data. When clients suffer data loss or disaster, EVault automatically sends the client’s data to CloudFirst’s Medford, Mass. state-of-the-art data center where the data are loaded onto a secure server. The clients are then able to immediately access their data through a virtual private network (VPN) until their own servers are operational again.
“EVault is the leader in online data protection solutions and an obvious partner for our disaster recovery solution,” said Peter Briggs, president of CloudFirst. “They have a stable Internet-based back-up that enables companies to easily and securely protect their data. With EVault as part of our disaster recovery offering, we are now able to help companies gain more rapid access to their data and easily transfer the data back to their servers after a disaster. EVault also supports the iSeries computing platform, which is the chosen platform for most of our clients. This is a rarity in the vaulting industry and solidified our decision to partner with them.”
“CloudFirst has been designated an EVault Platinum Partner, our highest level, because of the significant value their disaster recovery technology offers our clients,” said Tony Barbagallo, VP of Marketing at EVault. “Our solutions truly complement each other, providing our clients with a complete disaster recovery solution. We look forward to further building our relationship with CloudFirst and jointly offering peace of mind to organizations concerned about their data.”
CloudFirst/DR is a reliable disaster recovery service for companies with a recovery time objective of 10 hours or less. CloudFirst/DR provides point-in-time capture of changed data through the Internet and stores them off-site. The incremental data are compressed and encrypted to make this process efficient and cost effective. In the event of a failure, CloudFirst would perform a disk-to-disk restore of the client’s data to a stand-by server in one of its data centers, enabling the client to be up and running within the recovery time objective. The lower cost of both the middleware and hardware makes CloudFirst/DR a cost-effective solution for companies who do not need high availability.
