Gregory P. Peterson is currently a partner in a prestigious law firm in Garden City noted as the fifth largest law firm on Long Island, specializing in Banking, Real Estate Development, Zoning, Bankruptcy, Estates and Commercial litigation. In addition his firm also serves as outside counsel to several large municipalities on Long Island.
Previously, Mr. Peterson was the chairman and CEO for the Nassau Regional Off-Track Betting Corporation from 1998-2001. Mr. Peterson was responsible for the daily operation, managing fifteen branches and 350 employees. Mr. Peterson was also the Presiding Supervisor for the Town of Hempstead from 1993-1998. Mr. Peterson also served as Supervisor from 1987-1993 as well as Councilman from 1972-1987.
Mr. Peterson received his bachelors of arts degree in 1966 from Muhlenberg College in Allentown Pennsylvania. After graduating from Muhlenberg College, Mr. Peterson went onto St. John’s University School of Law in which he received his Juris Doctorate in 1970. Mr. Peterson is involved with various affiliations such as Nassau Lawyers Association, Nassau County Bar Association, New York State Bar Association, East Meadow Chamber of Commerce, Nassau County Criminal Justice Coordinating Council, and Nassau County Law Library Board of Trustees. Mr. Peterson also has received many honors such as Man of the Year from East Meadow Chamber of Commerce, Community Service Award from Rough Rider District and Nassau County Council, Criminal Justice Award from Former District Attorney’s Association and Outstanding Citizen Award from Nassau Coalition Against Child Abuse and Neglect.
