Customer Case Study

CloudFirst Makes Ground Transportation Company’s Move a Smooth Ride

COMPANY OVERVIEW

Executive Charge is part of The Executive Transportation Group (ETG), a privately held corporation that specializes in providing upscale sedan service throughout the metro New York market. Over 90 years, the company has continued to grow and has built a reputation at one of the preeminent ground transportation providers in the industry

THE CHALLENGE

The company was in the process of relocating its main office from Brooklyn, NY to Queens. They needed to move their server infrastructure quickly, at an affordable rate, and with minimal disruption to normal business operations.

THE SOLUTION

CloudFirst began moving the client’s server infrastructure by migrating 11 VMware Production Virtual machines to its datacenter, including MS Exchange, Domain controllers and IIS web servers. They also transferred Executive Charge’s internet facing services, terminal/RDS servers, Oracle, Anti-virus management, and API server. Seeing Executive Charge’s move as an opportunity to lower their reliance on physical hardware, CloudFirst also converted two physical production servers to VMware Virtual machines (VMware Virtualization) and then migrated them to their datacenter. Next they transferred the client’s Physical Barracuda Spam Filter Appliance to a VMware Virtual Machine version hosted in CloudFirst’s datacenter, and made the necessary changes to alter the mail fl ow to the new filter. Throughout the process, CloudFirst managed all network changes that could potentially alter business operations, ensuring that all locations had access to the datacenter systems and services

THE RESULTS

In just three nights, CloudFirst migrated the company’s systems, services, public DNS records and mail delivery settings to their new location, which allowed management to focus their attention on other aspects of the complex company move. Now, with less physical hardware at their new location, Executive Charge’s onsite staff is no longer responsible for handling time-consuming and costly maintenance and repairs, helping business operations run more smoothly. Executive Charge is confident in CloudFirst’s expertise and service going forward, as they have been throughout the two companies’ long and successful relationship together.
