New Enhancements Extend Virtual Data Recovery Services to the New York Area and Provide Faster Backup and Data Recovery for Clients and Managed Service Providers
Garden City, N.Y. – April 18, 2011 – CloudFirst , a provider of data protection and business continuity solutions, today announced that it has expanded and made significant enhancements to its Westbury, N.Y. data center. The company will now be able to offer its CloudFirst VDR (virtual data recovery) solution from its Westbury data center. The additional enhancements made at all four of its data centers will provide its clients and other managed services providers, hosting data at their facilities, more optimized performance of their data backup and recovery solutions via a cloud computing model.

The key upgrades made to the CloudFirst data centers include:
- CloudFirst VDR – CloudFirst is now able to offer organizations its VDR solution from its Westbury data center, providing them with remote connectivity to a fully functioning Windows or Linux system complete with their backed up data and applications. CloudFirst will also be adding CloudFirst DR for IBM iSeries (AS400) Recovery, to complement the services in the CloudFirst RI and MA data centers.
- Network Storage Platform – Leveraging BlueArc’s storage systems for both its primary storage system and for its data recovery solution, CloudFirst has significantly increased its storage capacity and performance.
- Firewall Security – CloudFirst is now using Stonesoft Corporation’s 1060 Link Aggregation Firewall, a unique network security solution that allows CloudFirst to integrate the firewall and IPS with its high availability and data recovery solutions to offer increased security and scalability.
